MOLD FOAMING

Mold foaming is done through a discontinuous process. Mold foaming is used to create complex shaped products such as seat cushions, upholstery, headrests, automotive parts and building materials. This process involves pouring or injecting components through a mixing head into a preheated mold. The components react inside the mold, causing the polymer system to foam and rise.

The mold foaming process can be further divided into the hot injection process and the cold injection process, the classification being given by the mold temperature. The hot mold foaming process involves conventional polyether mixed with TDI. The cold mold foaming process , on the other hand, uses polymer systems prepared from polyether and a mixture of TDI and MDI or 100% MDI. The faster reaction of MDI results in lower mold temperatures.

DESCRIPTION OF EQUIPMENT

PROFILE The 2-component high-pressure injection equipment uses 2 tanks for raw materials: POLY for polyether polyol and ISO for isocyanate. It has two frequency conversion measuring units to control the flow output of the metering pump.

HIGH PRESSURE INJECTION HEAD Built with South Korea's DUT technology to produce a high pressure self-cleaning linear mixing head using an adjustable needle nozzle. The concept ensures the mixed effect of the raw material, respectively from two different collision directions, to ensure the appropriate proportions of components in the mixture.

INJECTION PROGRAMS
Possibility to store 9 injection programs in manual mode and 99 programs in automatic mode. POLY /ISO raw material components are stored in tanks. The measurement accuracy is 0.5%.

APPLICATTIONS

Mold foaming is used to create many things, such as packaging, car parts and components, toys, basically any complex shape that cannot be made by contour cutting for applications in the most diverse industries: automotive, packaging , sports and recreation, medical.

BENEFITS

The result is a piece of desired geometry obtained through optimal use of raw materials. Losses are practically non-existent. The process has a high degree of repeatability, the shapes obtained being identical over tens of thousands of cycles. The reduced execution time allows the use of the process in mass production, under conditions of low costs, at large volumes.
